The daimyo and hero of Wano Arc, Kuri Oden is what we’re looking at. His role was to change Wano’s fate. Kaido and Orochi hatched a plot to end Oden’s life and seal Wano’s fate forever. This man left behind a strong legacy which influenced the events at Wano Arc.
Oden was the strongest, if not the strongest, samurai of Wano. Oden’s strength was admirated by Pirate King Roger, Whitebeard, and others.
It is hard to believe that Oden, a samurai, was defeated by a poor goblin in a kimono. We are talking about Orochi. Although it is not necessary to explain, it is still important. The question is:
How did Oden Die?
We are now at the sad part. We believe or want to believe Oden is still alive. However, we are ready to recount the events that led up to his death. Oden was executed in the flower capital by Kaido. The strongest samurai, however, said farewell in the most graceful way, leaving behind a story for future generations.
All began when Oden, who had just returned from an overseas trip, retired to Wano. Kurozumi Orochi had taken control of his country when he returned home. He ran to the Flower Capital to confront Orochi. He was able defeat the soldiers and get to Orochi. But there was something he didn’t know.
The Story of Oden’s Demise
Next, we see Oden almost naked dancing in Wano’s streets. This severely damaged his reputation in Wano. In chapter 971 it is revealed that Oden met Kaido and Orochi when he invaded the Flower Capital. He learned that hundreds of citizens had been captured by Orochi and were being sold as slaves to Kaido.
Oden was allowed to dance naked in the streets in exchange for his freedom. After five years of torment, Oden finally had enough. He gathered his Red Scabbard retainers for one last showdown.
Oden inflicted a severe injury to Kaido during this fight. Our hero Wano seemed to be victorious, but Kurozumi Higurashi disguised himself as Momonosuke and distracted him. Kaido defeated Oden in a brief moment of confusion. It was a shameful way to take down a samurai!
Then, he was captured and taken to the execution bench.
Here is where the legend of Kozuki Oden starts and ends.
Kaido offered to let Oden and his friends go if they could all survive a full hour in boiling water on the day of Oden’s execution. Oden raised a plank to his face and asked his friends to support him while he was submerged in the oil.
Orochi ordered their execution even though he had survived the long and exhausting hour. In an attempt to save them, Oden threw his retainers away. Kaido shot Oden in the head. He then sank in the oil, smiling.
Is Kozuki Oden really dead?
As we said, it seems a little bit impossible to imagine him dead.
Oden was a beast when it came down to strength and power. Kozuki Oden was the one who gave Kaido that love bite. This shows us how powerful he was. Kaido is the strongest living creature. Kaido is said to be virtually unbeatable in a one-on-1 battle.
Oden arrived and almost convinced us that this was true. It seems unlikely that Kozuki, our beloved, can be brought down so easily.
Oden was the one who, if we are correct, foretold this great Wano war. Oden was also able accurately to predict the arrival the next generation of Wano. Oden was more than we could see. Kaido was the one who knew Oden would kill him.
That is what we can only see as adding to the confusion. How did he know all of this? If he could foresee all the events, why did he choose to accept his fate. Our guess? Perhaps he didn’t.
We know that Oden was a man who had a plan and a backup plan. He could still be alive, waiting for the right opportunity. This is a possibility, but it’s still possible.
But, it is still true that Kozuki Oden was killed and that he died victorious.
